A brand new look is coming to the News page.
From the Journal portal, which will be replacing the News page, you'll be able to browse, submit, or search journals and news. You'll be able to browse by Newest, Popular, and Featured (which is comprised of official deviantART news and highlights).
Journals will be visible with their skin, giving you a better context of the post.

What's new in the fight against malicious ads?
As reported in a recent site-wide Hot Topic, our Devious Technology team has been hard at work creating a tool that better allows us to identify and block ads that auto-play audio and/or contain malicious content. After testing internally, we're ready to release the tool to a wider deviantART audience.

I find it's amusing that I'm not as mad as I thought I'd be. Perhaps because it's Ramadan, and I spend my day meditating, praying, and fasting, which helps me to manage my emotion better. The only thing that makes me sad is the fact some of my friends deactivate their accounts out of the blue... after writing a rather depressing message somewhere. Again. =A="
Anyway, the good news is, now I have 6,000+ watchers!! My last deviation also gets 6,200+ favs and 1,000+ comments, while my fanclub #PinkStripedMellonFan just gets +200 members. I never thought it's possible! :icontearplz:

Lovers of emotions as illustrated in icon form, we’ve got another update for you! We noticed that our last five additions (

) were a little on the negative side. We can’t have that! Emoticons also need to be expressions of joy, of happiness, of carefree joie de vivre! And then two more sassy ones!

We are also respectfully retiring seven icons that have outlived their glory days. We will miss them. A little.

Instances of these images will revert back to their text form, but according to our hack team of Icon Scientists, no one has used these icons since 1985. Our Scientists don't actually understand how time works, but trust us. These icons are now in a better place, in a farm in a different town, where they can run free all day.

The suggestions keep pouring in, and we’re considering them all, so a huge, continuous THANK YOU for all your help! As always, this is an ongoing project. We can’t guarantee updates every X months or somesuch, but know in your heart that we're on it.

Since we're talking about emoticon revamps (and I have no idea if this has already been suggested) maybe we could take a look at the 'mood' emoticons? I think they could use a few additions. It's to the point where if I want to put a 'current mood' on my journal, I add it into the body of my journal so I can use an emote from the main legend. Just a thought
