Emoticon Legend Update: The Emoticons Strike Back

Lovers of emotions as illustrated in icon form, we’ve got another update for you! We noticed that our last five additions (, , , , and ) were a little on the negative side. We can’t have that! Emoticons also need to be expressions of joy, of happiness, of carefree joie de vivre! And then two more sassy ones!

So have an emoticon seat () and get ready for the next five additions!

We are also respectfully retiring seven icons that have outlived their glory days. We will miss them. A little.


Instances of these images will revert back to their text form, but according to our hack team of Icon Scientists, no one has used these icons since 1985. Our Scientists don't actually understand how time works, but trust us. These icons are now in a better place, in a farm in a different town, where they can run free all day.

The suggestions keep pouring in, and we’re considering them all, so a huge, continuous THANK YOU for all your help! As always, this is an ongoing project. We can’t guarantee updates every X months or somesuch, but know in your heart that we're on it.
