:star:  Full view deviation changes are here!

You asked and we listened!  Three weeks ago, deviantART held our first ever town hall meeting in Los Angeles, California.  The goal of the event was simple: interact with fellow community members and hold informal discussions about all things deviantART -- ranging from new features and upgrades, to issues about art theft, to site functionality, Points, search, and everything in between.  Roughly 30 deviants from the Los Angeles area were in attendance, but thoughts and opinions of deviants everywhere where well represented as akreon and vesner came armed with feedback from their "We'll ask the staff" journal.

One of the common complaints we heard both in-person and online had due to with the fact that since the launch of v7, it became harder to see the original size of a deviation with ease.  With that said, we're happy to announce the return of (easy to access) full size image view!

:star:  This is what's new!

Got a huge deviation and want to see all of its glorious details?  Not a problem.

1.  Find a big deviation, and gaze at its beauty.  But wait.  What's that?  It appears like there's something in the distance.  What could it be?

2.  Click the deviation once for full view (per normal).  In this mode, you can scroll up and down, as the image engulfs your entire screen.  But that object in the distance can still be difficult to discern.  Now you're thinking, "If only I could see the image full size without having to right click and open in a new window."

3. Click the image again for another level of zoomtastic beauty!  Once this view is activated, you can scroll up, down, left and right to check out every inch of the original sized image.  And, finally, we can see there's a car driving by in the background.  Mystery solved thanks to enhanced level zoom!  ;)

4. Once you've taken it all in, click the image again to return to the original view.

Note:  Keep in mind that this feature only applies to deviations with a large file size.  (For Premium Members with the Auto Zoom option enabled, you need only click once to get to the original size.)

:target:  Beta tester approved!

This feature has been tested and approved by our lovely beta testers.  You can read what they had to say during the testing process by checking out this blog, but here are a couple of snippets:

:bulletblue:  RoslynDrey:  "Sweet! Now when I decide to upload detailed work I won't have to worry if people can see everything. This will work great for so many artists."

:bulletblue: shelldevil: "YAY! As a stocker, and a stock user, this is MIGHTY helpful!"

  Conclusion and thanks!

This feature update, like our previous updates and changes to birthday notifications and deviantART muro, was born from community feedback.  We're working hard to address community concerns and, as previously stated, improve the lines of communication between deviants and staff members.  This feature wouldn't have come about had it not been for deviants like you sharing your comments, questions, and suggestions.

Aside from your help, mega thanks also go out to Devious Technology (dt) for implementing the changes.  Specifically, allixsenos who worked tirelessly to get the upgrades out the door.  If you enjoy the enhanced deviation view, be sure to drop by his Profile Page and share the love!

Since deviations bigger than 900 pixel can't be used in full view, why deviant art simply don't shrink them down so that only the preview is 900 pixels?
