Is a photograph only a record, something created by a machine? Can photography ever truly be considered art? That question seems quaint and laughable these days, but if you do a little research you will find that once upon a time it was a raging debate. Thankfully a consensus has been reached that the agency of the photographer – his or her eye and critical mind – choosing the subject and manipulating the machine (the camera that is the art instrument) is what establishes photographs as potential works of art when created by an artist-photographer. Pretty basic common sense, huh? So why then is there now a debate as to whether FRACTAL ART is truly art – or just something produced by poking patterns into a computer? Isn't it just really random e-graffiti, a fibonacci button mash?
Here we go again… Hopefully it won’t take nearly a century again before fractal art is recog

How did you first discover deviantART?

Well to be completely honest, i had no idea that this site even existed, until i got with husband . He told me about this website that is dedicated to artist , and I took and look and decided to join.
What was it about dA that made you want to stay?

Its addicting !! Ok well it is but the real reason why, is because of how amazing everyone is. The people i had met when i first got on da were amazing! The more and more people i meet, i feel like im growing not with only myself but with all of those around me.
Also i would have to say all the inspiration i have gotten from so many different types of art, and the biggest thing is being able to relate to people, because we all have our story !

Creative expression through music!

Before there was deviantART, Co-Founder and CEO Angelo Sotira, aka +spyed, founded a music community called Dimension Music, or DMusic. As music is one of many avenues of artistic expression, creating deviantART as an outlet for the visual arts seemed to follow suit. However, music has always been near and dear to +spyed's heart.

That's why when Southern California radio station KCRW asked +spyed if he'd like to participate in their Guest DJ Project, he jumped on the opportunity. KCRW's Guest DJ Project invites an array of cultural icons to share and discuss songs that have inspired them. Actors, authors, chefs, athletes, directors, tech entrepreneurs and more share their musical passions, giving deep insight into both their lives and their creative process.

During his interview, Angelo chose songs meaningful to him, such as an exclusive freestyle flow from Eminem on Tim Westwood TV, an exclusive track that struck a nerve in him during one of the more challenging times of building deviantART, and Help I'm Alive (The Twelves remix) by Metric, a song in a genre he relies on often to get him get into a creative flow.

Na verdade a unica coisa que realmente acontece aki em Sao Paulo eh o Anime Friends. Mas se tivesse um devmeet aki com certeza iria bastante gente, e acho q no Sul tambem talvez. Agente podia tenta convence eles ah fazer, tipo, um comite devintART no Brasil, tipo um grupinho que pudesse fazer decisoes e organizar eventos do dA no Brasil. Mas eu acho que o problema disso eh ver se tem gente o bastante pra ir tambem...
