At the beginning of June, we made an announcement that provided an update to all the recent enhancement to the Forums. Since then, we're delighted to say that we have now completed all the agreed enhancements apart from one -- the addition of search functionality -- and that should happen over the next week. mccann has promised!

We thought you'd appreciate a round up of everything that's been upgraded!

:star:  Now Live!

:bulletgreen:  No more ads in the Forums!

:bulletgreen:  Forum pagination.

:bulletgreen:  Order forum replies by newest first.

:bulletgreen:  The ability to browse back, up to 1 week ago.  (This means you can view threads that have had any activity within the last week.)

:bulletgreen:  Thumbnails are live in all forums.

:bulletgreen: The option for the original poster to turn off thumbnails and icons has also been added.

:star:  Other Awesome Additions!

:bulletgreen:  We've added a tool that allows Volunteer MN@ to move forum threads that have been posted in an inappropriate/miscategorized area, rather than simply locking them.

:bulletgreen: We also have a shiny new tool that allows admins to ban a deviant from the forums without impacting on their ability to interact on any other part of the site.

:bulletgreen: You now have the ability to have message center notifications of forum posts by your friends.

:bulletgreen: We reviewed posting levels and removed a number of ghost town forums, such as Prints & Sports.

:bulletgreen: We streamlined the way that we provide Status updates by providing a direct link to the new improved status forums provided by our integrated Zendesk platform, which even allows for email notifications of issues.

:bulletgreen: We brought the once hidden category forums into the main forum arena, featuring Digital Art, Literature and Photography. We've merged the other categories for now, but we're keeping an eye on posting levels and will review regularly to see if any other genres are thriving enough to warrant an area of their own.

:bulletgreen: The great Nerdiness vs. Nerdyness debate took place.

:bulletgreen: "Complaints" got renamed, but then we got complaints.  So we renamed things again, then there was praise!

:bulletgreen:  UPDATE: Forum Search is LIVE! Now you can search for your favorite topics to comment on, or start your own topic with the knowledge that you can now be found via our Search tool.

So there you have it, the most extensive updating of deviantART forums since they were launched, and YOU made it happen. Thank you to everyone who took part in providing feedback and ideas for these much needed improvements. We'd also like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we rolled out the improvements. Last but not least, we'd also like to extend a special thanks to the members of our dt team who were involved in bringing everything to life.

Stay devious! :dalove:

I like it all but why is this still being presented as news? It dates back to June -- and some of the innovations promised way back when forum improvements were being discussed -- like the layers in the Drawplz forum -- still haven't appeared.
